Reunion Registration Headquarters and Residence Halls Open
Finger Lakes Institute Director Lisa Cleckner will lead a working session aboard The William Scandling assessing the environmental well-being of Seneca Lake. Prepare to collect sediment dredges, look for zebra and quagga mussels and discuss their ecological impact on aquatic ecosystems, nutrient loading problems in the Finger Lakes, and local economies. Event is limited to 18 people—ages 13 and older—no infants or small children
The American Civil War Memorial, dedicated in 2008, was designed by sculptor Pietro del Fabro ’67, who will lead the tour. The memorial is located on Lock Island in nearby Waterloo, NY - the Birthplace of Memorial Day. The Memorial includes individual cenotaphs for each person from Waterloo who died in the Civil War and a North South Cenotaph recognizing all lives lost. The North-South Cenotaph is constructed of stones sent from the 36 States which were in existence at the end of the Civil War. The project includes 62 sculptures in limestone and marble including a Women's Cenotaph commemorating the women who served during the war.

Join Dr. Bruce Bauer ’74 for a talk on the interplay between art and science, highlighting the power of creative thinking in both the operating room and the art studio. Dr. Bauer reflects on how his early work with jewelry and carving helped to shape his 45 year career as a Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon, with emphasis on artistic thought processes that have guided both his surgical procedures and return to one of a kind sculptural jewelry design.
Join Dr. Rick Solomon ’75 for a workshop exploring the nature of anxiety, with a particular focus upon its impact on young minds. Review the evolutionary importance of anxiety and address a critical question: Have we accelerated anxiety in children and adolescents to levels that discourage evolutionary progress and psychological health? Conclude by discussing practical strategies to support and nurture the development of increased coping skills and resilience.
Professor Michael Dobkowski explores our post-truth age; when historical "facts" are challenged or relativized, when comparison, context and ideology outweigh particularism and long accepted documented knowledge and understanding. This is happening in the field of Holocaust Studies. This minicourse will explore these developments and their implications.
Visit Houghton house for a self-guided tour through Davis Gallery featuring the works of John Loftus. John Loftus was a prolific painter and teacher at Hobart and William Smith Colleges from 1967 - 1995. Through his teaching and his art, he shared his unique vision of the world with his students. He defied conventional rules and advocated "The Method of no Method". Half a century later his paintings and drawings are revered and sought after more than ever. Visit the adjoining Solarium Gallery featuring Alumni and Alumnae artwork from Harold Draffen '75, Susan Albert '75, Mary Hughes '75, Tom Fuller '75, and Neil Sjoblom '75.

The Hobart Alumni and William Smith Alumnae Associations’ Distinguished Faculty Award Committee is proud to honor John Burns, Professor Emeritus of Education, and the late Peter Cummings P'92, Professor Emeritus of English. This prestigious award recognizes the profound influence of exceptional faculty members from the past, acknowledging the significant contributions they made as educators, mentors, and scholars. A reception will follow.
Former Trustee, John Pulos '70, has worked at Finger Lakes Wineries and Distilleries since 2008. He is currently the wine educator at Wagner Vineyards on Seneca Lake. Wagner is one of the oldest and most recognized wineries in the Finger Lakes Region and has been one of the region’s most popular wine tasting destinations since opening in 1979. He is the author of "Looking at Wine Through a Different Window" listed as an Amazon Best Seller. John will conduct a wine class and tasting of ten of Wagner's award-winning wines.

The captain will highlight the incredible historic buildings along the trip and unique, fun facts about Seneca Lake. Space is limited. Whether you’ve ascended the tower before or not, we’re sure you’ll want to take in the spectacular views of the campus and the lake. Don’t forget to bring your camera along. Beware—the view could take your breath away, and so could the ascent! We'll take your picture to prove that you reached the top. Appropriate footwear is recommended.
